Diocese Office Open House!
The Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming to Host Open House: December 11 from 5:30 - 7:30
To celebrate the newly remodeled Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming office, the Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming is hosting an Open House on Friday, December 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the 123 S Durbin, Casper location. The office building, purchased in 2007, was remodeled to conform with The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, and is one of the few buildings in Wyoming to be LEED-compliant. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. For more information on LEED go to:
www.usgbc.org/LEED
The open house will showcase the environmentally-friendly redesign that includes energy efficient lighting, heating, and cooling, as well as use of open spaces and natural lighting. The building remodel includes worship and meeting space, in addition to the Diocese offices. John Masters, Esq., Executive Director for The Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming commented, “This is not just an office building, but a comfortable space for work, worship and community gatherings”.
The Diocese move from Laramie to central Wyoming was decided at the 2006 Wyoming Episcopal Convention by delegates representing all parts of Wyoming. The need was for more accessibility both to and from the Diocese, and Casper’s central location and accessibility to other parts of the state made it a natural choice. Previous to the move, the Diocese had been headquartered in Hunter Hall adjacent to the Laramie Cathedral for over 50 years. In response to the Convention, the Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming purchased a site in downtown Casper in 2007. The Rev Canon Margaret Babcock had this to say about the move, "My best hope for the diocesan office is that we can be a witness, in the midst of downtown Casper, in the middle of Wyoming, of good stewardship of the great gifts of natural resources God has given us."
Bishop Caldwell, will lead guests in a brief consecration of the Chapel and Diocesan Center. All are welcome to attend the Open House where there will be opportunities to tour the new building, visit with staff, Foundation board members and building contractors, as well as learn how the Diocese and Foundation are being environmentally responsible. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
